PlainBill ยท IQ48 LLC
Terms of service
Effective October 27, 2026
PlainBill provides free explanations and analysis of U.S. congressional bills. These terms describe use of the site and optional reader support payments.
About the service
PlainBill is a registered trade name of IQ48 LLC, which operates the service. By using the site or making a support payment, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service or make a payment.
PlainBill is an independent project, not a government agency or congressional office. All content remains free to read. Support payments do not purchase a membership, exclusive content, editorial influence, or a promise to cover any particular bill.
Use the official record for important decisions
Our content is for general educational purposes and is not legal, financial, or other professional advice. Some explanations use artificial intelligence and may contain errors or omissions. Coverage can be incomplete, and legislation can change after a page is updated.
Check the linked official sources and relevant dates before relying on an explanation. We do not guarantee that the site is complete, current, error-free, or continuously available. You can report a correction to support@plainbill.org.
Optional support payments
All support amounts are in U.S. dollars and payments are processed by Stripe. One-time support is charged once at the amount you choose, with a $2 minimum. Monthly support is available at $3, $5, or $10 per month.
When you choose monthly support, you authorize recurring charges at your selected amount each month until you cancel. Checkout displays the payment details before you confirm. You must be authorized to use the payment method you provide.
IQ48 LLC is a business and does not claim nonprofit or tax-exempt status. Support payments are not tax-deductible charitable donations.
Canceling monthly support
You can cancel anytime through the Stripe customer portal using your checkout email address, or contact support@plainbill.org for help. Cancel before your next renewal to stop the next charge.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. It stops future renewals and does not automatically refund payments already made. You can still read PlainBill after canceling.
Refunds
You may request a refund within 30 days of a support payment, including for accidental or duplicate payments. Email support@plainbill.org with your checkout email, payment date, and amount. This policy applies to both one-time payments and individual monthly charges.
Refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe. The time it takes to appear depends on your payment provider. A refund request does not itself cancel monthly support; use the customer portal or ask us to cancel it as well. This policy does not limit rights you may have under applicable law.
Using the site responsibly
Do not attempt to disrupt the site, bypass security controls, gain unauthorized access, or use the service unlawfully. When citing PlainBill, link to the relevant page and distinguish our explanations from the official legislative record.
Official records and third-party material remain subject to their applicable rights and source terms. Linking to another website does not mean we control or endorse everything on it.
Privacy and contact
Our privacy policy describes how we handle browsing, contact, and payment information. For support, billing help, or questions about these terms, email support@plainbill.org.
Changes to the service or terms
We may update the site and these terms as the project develops. Updated terms will be posted here with a new effective date, with additional notice when required. Changes will not retroactively remove refund rights for payments already made.
